Healthy and Fresh Yogurt

One of the best things you can pack for a lunch is yogurt. My favorite is Activa; it's healthy for you and tastes great. I also top it with this yummy crunch cereal from Kashi. :) Pack in a cup-sized tupperware container-perfect for lunch!

Pretty Picks | Combat Boots

So along with my nail art series I am also going to post monthly 'picks' of different articles of clothing/shoes/accessories. For September here is my favorite pair of combat boots. They're perfect for fall and very versatile. Here I have them folded down with a pair of frilly socks. :)

Nail Art | Periwinkle Daisies

Each month I'll be adding some inspiring nail art photos! This month I've painted my nails a girly periwinkle with tiny sparkles. On my thumbs I hand painted a daisy with a sparkly center! :)

Turkey and Pastrami Wraps

These are some tasty and healthy alternatives to a boring PB&J sandwich for school lunches. Here's what you need to get started:

~Turkey
~Pastrami
~Whole wheat tortillas
~chives
~mustard
~cream cheese

Turkey wrap:

1: Cover the tortilla with cream cheese.

2: Add your turkey on one half.

3: Place your chive in the center.

4: Wrap up the tortilla tightly so that it looks like the picture on the side.

5: Cover in tin foil and place in the fridge over night.

 Pastrami:

1: This is basically the same concept, except you'll cover the wrap in cream cheese, mustard and pastrami. Don't for get to wrap in tin foil and place in the fridge also. :)

♫♫ At Ease ♫♫

Music is definitely the #1 thing that puts people at ease after a long day. Anytime you close your eyes you feel like you've been taken off the planet and placed in a music video inside your own head. No matter the genre you know exactly what I'm talking about. Here's a random list of some songs you might enjoy:

♫ Let It Be by The Beatles
♫ One Headlight by The Wallflowers
♫ Rainbow Veins by Owl City
♫ Candle In The Wind by Elton John
♫ Victim by The Wild Colonials
♫ Blame It On The Rain by He Is We
♫ Color My World by Chicago
♫ Hey You by Miranda Cosgrove
♫ Only In Your Heart by America
♫ If You Want Me by Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard
♫ Where I Go by Natalie Merchant
♫ These Words Are Mine by Natasha Benningfield
♫ Only Human by Jason Mraz
♫ How Long by Dire Straits
♫ Tree By The River by Iron And Wine
♫ Not Alone Anymore by The Traveling Wilburys
♫ Best Of My Love by The Eagles
♫ Can't You See by The Marshall Tucker Band

Cute Room, No $$

Seeing the same room day after day can loose it's charm. Here's 5 new ways to freshen up a room with little to no cost :)

1. Paint - Just a simple coat for your walls can really brighten things up.
*Try this: Paint one wall a different color from all the others or give your room some stripes; it uses less paint and is much more original!

2. Re-arrange - Switching the layout of your furniture gives a new feeling of comfort as you enter the room.
*Try this: Mirrors make all the difference, moving or adding one to a wall forces you to see a side of the room your not used to seeing in the mirror.

3. New Bed - When your bed is the focal point of the room, changing the comforter or sheets feels like you've changed the whole room.
*Try this: Mixing and matching different throw blankets and pillows is a better way to change your bed up with out spending $$ in the stores. Just think of all the pillows and blankets you have everywhere else in your home!

4. Organization - With a new system of organizing you'll feel like your whole room is 10x cleaner.
*Try this: You know you're closet is cleaned and organized but it still looks cluttered. Try organizing all your clothes and shoes by color. Watch the new rainbow assortment of clothes brighten your closet!

5. Less Furniture - You'd be surprised how more open your room will look when you take out that big TV or unnecessary dresser.
*Try this: Once you're able to take out one piece of furniture that doesn't really mean anything you can totally switch everything else around. Give all your shelves and dressers a new purpose!

DIY: Distressed Jeans

You can make ripped jeans with just a pair of scissors. The best part? You don't have to spend a fortune buying distressed jeans from the store. Here's what you need to get started:

~Scissors
~Tweezers
~Pair of jeans you don't mind cutting-any will do it just depends on your liking; if you can't seem to find a pair you want to cut try buying a pair from the thrift store (mom jeans work best when cut down for distressed shorts.)

Step 1: Cut a few slits where you would like your distressed patch to be; have each cut parallel to the other as well as parallel to the bottom of your jeans. Make sure you don't cut the back of your jeans.

Step 2: You will see blue and white strands of thread; using the tweezers pull away the white strands of thread until you can easily see each individual blue thread.

Step 3: Pull out the individual blue threads, this should leave all the remaining white threads so that they look like this:

Step 4: Throw the jeans in the washer and dryer to help with distressing the holes even more.

DIY: Envelope Notes

These pretty string of envelopes are perfect for hanging near a desk for keeping notes in. I also like to use it for holding sticky notes, bookmarks, small cards, and photographs. You can use yours however you want; here's how to make 'em:

First you have to make your envelopes-you can choose any kind of paper just make sure you cut it into a square.

Once you've made about 5 or 6 envelopes it's time to tape them all together. Tape each top flap of the envelopes to the back of another until you get one long string. To hang them you can use thumb tacks or sticky tack; for mine I taped a little piece of ribbon to the top in a looped shape. Whatever fits your style best :)

Flowers

I love taking photos of everything especially flowers. <3 Their color, texture and differentiation make them extremely photogenic. I made this collage of some flowers around my house and my grandmother's house. They were simply taken with my camera phone, but with the right lighting it really makes the beauty of the flower glow :)

DIY: Locker Pocket

These cute jean pockets are perfect for storing your pens and pencils on the door of any locker. Instead of those big tin containers that don't always allow you to shut your locker correctly, these lil' pockets are thin enough to not stop your locker from shutting-even with pencils in them :)

You can make these yourself in just a few steps; here's what you need:

~Pair of old jeans
~Scissors
~Hot glue/double sided tape (or just anything sticky)
~Magnets

Once you have everything the rest is really simple:

Step 1:

Take your pair of jeans and cut around the pocket; make sure you are getting both the pocket and the fabric behind the pocket. Don't just cut off the front or all your stuff will fall out the bottom.

Step 2:

Take two magnets and glue/stick them on each side of your pocket like so
Step 3:

Test them out on your locker and make sure they don't fall when you try to put stuff in them. If they sag or don't stay up try using stronger magnets or just add more to the back and bottom of the pockets.

This was a little bit self explanatory but that's what makes it easy. I hope you like the new idea, let me know what you think. :)

Smile Supplies :D

Ah yes, the time has come for everyone to get ready for school. Whether you go to a public or private school or you study at home I'm sure you're probably getting your supplies list together. Of course I'm past lil' puppy covered supplies and the fancy pattern binders never come in the proper sizes; so I'm usually stuck with boring solid colored supplies Here's a list of little things that can make oh so blah school supplies pretty ;D

~Stickers-Probably the easiest way to add some fuzz/sparkle/smell or just a plain picture..
~Sharpies-Hand 'em to your friends to write funny notes and prepare to laugh every time you read :D
~Colored/Pattern Duck Tape-Can cover multiple binders/folders for an instant color change.
~Ribbon-When tied on the zipper of a pencil bag or the top of a planner, they serve for convenience and looks.
~Sticky Notes-Another useful item for marking your page, try to buy 'em in fun shapes or colors

Hope I helped! Tell us your creative school supplies ideas :)

The Little Things in Life

Like that accessory that somehow matches your whole wardrobe; or that favorite perfume you always use; or even that pretty lone button at the bottom of your craft drawer ...There's so many pretty little things that I love to pick out. In crafts, clothes and in nature too...there's a lot out there small or big; that I like to cherish. :D
